Five Sites to Find High Quality - And FREE - Stock Images

It's only natural that at some point, you’ll have to use a few stock images.

Whether you’re a graphic designer looking for some temporary filler images, a content creator who wants to add some interesting photographs, or a business owner who’s filling out their website, the uses for stock photography are endless.

But, if you’ve ever shopped around for stock images, you’ve likely seen that the prices can be very high…

Luckily for us however, there are plenty of websites out there creating and publishing incredibly high-quality stock photography and images, all for free!

Pexels

Pexels is my personal go-to when it comes to hunting for stock photography. They have a huge range of images and styles, which means you’re sure to find something perfect for you.

Unsplash

This is my second go-to. If by chance you can’t find what you’re looking for on Pexels, there’s a good chance you’ll find it on Unsplash. Similarly, Unsplash also publishes a huge variety of stock images in different styles and types.

Gratisography

If you’re looking for something a little quirkier, Gratisography is perfect for you. Many of the images featured in this growing collection are odd, a little silly, and always high-quality.

Pixabay

If you’re also in the market for illustrations, vectors, videos and sound effects, Pixabay is a great place to start your search. With an almost endless amount of content, all free for you to use, you can’t go wrong.

Morguefile

This one is a little different to the others on this list. Morguefile isn’t professionally curated, which means you’ll find plenty of images on here that aren’t as good as the other sites. But, with that being said, if you’re willing to dig deep enough, you’re bound to find some hidden gems.

But what about copyright?

The good news is that almost every single image on all of these sites holds a Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means that you’re free to copy, edit, adapt and redistribute – yes, even for commercial use – without requiring author consent. In other words, do whatever you want with them!
